Purpose of the role:
The Data Architect plays a pivotal role in designing, governing, and advancing the enterprise data architecture at BIL. This position is responsible for ensuring that data remains accessible, reliable, and secure, while rigorously aligning data solutions with the organization’s strategic objectives.
The scope of responsibilities includes supporting advanced analytics, adhering to regulatory mandates such as DORA and BCBS 239, and promoting innovation across a complex hybrid IT environment.
By supporting the transformation of data into actionable insights, the Data Architect establishes effective data management, enables sophisticated analytics, and drives innovation throughout the institution.
This role will report to the Chief Architect / Head of Global Architecture Team.
Your next challenge:
Data Architecture Design:
- Define modeling standards (e.g., Data Vault, SCD, star schema) and technical guidelines (naming, versioning, code quality and support the development of logical and physical data models.
- Define and optimize data flows across systems (batch, real-time, streaming).
- Select appropriate technologies (Snowflake, Oracle, Kafka, Dataiku, etc.) based on use cases.
- Design and oversee BI architectures, ensuring seamless integration of business intelligence solutions with enterprise data platforms.
Platform Governance & Integration:
- Govern reusable data products aligned with domain-driven design principles.
- Ensure interoperability across platforms (on-premise, cloud, hybrid).
- Collaborate with Data Platform and Analytics teams on ingestion, transformation, and deployment workflows.
Security, Compliance & Metadata Management:
- Integrate IAM, encryption, DLP, and data lineage tools into architectural decisions.
- Support regulatory initiatives (e.g., DORA, BCBS 239) by mapping data assets to critical functions.
- Work closely and collaboratively with Data Governance team to enhance metadata repositories and data catalogs.
Collaboration & Leadership:
- Actively contribute to the Architecture boards.
- Lead architecture streams in strategic programs.
- Promote architectural best practices.
