Expert interview: Tom Lessel (Head of Corporate Banking)

In a few words, how would you describe Corporate and Institutional Banking at BIL?

The bank's strategy is to support companies throughout their life cycle; from creation to transmission. BIL assigns a dedicated contact person to accompany entrepreneur clients for both their private and business needs. For certain needs, this contact person is further assisted by experts. Clients are at the forefront of our concerns and we offer custom-made solutions tailored to their specific requirements. Our promise in two words? Grow together.

Is the offer of products and services adapted to the market?

BIL supports a great diversity of companies on the local market: start-ups, small and medium enterprises, mid-corps and corps. The bank’s offer is adapted to the demands of companies whatever their life cycle. For example, we provide a dedicated offer and personalised support for the creation of a company, and a dedicated offer and team for the transmission of the business.  In addition, the bank has a partnership with the European Investment Fund to support innovative companies via the Innovfin guarantee.

Why join BIL?

As well as being among the three leaders of the Corporate Banking market, BIL is the oldest bank in Luxembourg and is anchored in the local economic fabric. It is a bank on a human scale therefore the decision-making circuits are short. The bank’s recently acquired Chinese shareholder, Legend Holding, offers many new opportunities.

Do you have what it takes?

Human qualities are essential. Employees must be open-minded, have excellent interpersonal skills and be autonomous, as well as enjoying working within a team that is rich in skills.
