Meet Virginie Mélot, Facility Project Manager, telling us about her new career at BIL
Could you introduce yourself?
My name’s Virginie Mélot and I’m a Project Manager for Facility Management.
I specialise in the interior design of communal areas.
I joined BIL’s Corporate Real Estate department on 16 November 2019.
Why did you decide to join BIL?
My decision to join BIL resulted from a desire to relaunch my career and face new challenges each day. For me, joining BIL was a chance to meet new people, discover a new world and be part of a renowned company.
How did you settle in?
Despite the complicated health situation and number of people working from home, I received a warm welcome at BIL. The people in my department took turns showing me around the building and introducing me to the various team members. Not forgetting the HR department, which was there to guide me through the first few days.
How would you define the BIL mentality?
INNOVATIVE: I would say that the current BIL mentality is one of innovation through refurbishments and changes in the building. Although I think we could go even further, the foundations are there.
INSTRUCTIVE: I’ve noticed that BIL also wants to provide ongoing training for its staff and teach them new things, which I think is a big plus in a company.
I’d like to add one more thing – FRIENDLY: even if the present situation gets makes it harder to be friendly and spend time with colleagues.
What are your goals and ambitions?
The aim for me is to apply my skills in designing communal areas so that staff feel comfortable in the workplace.
I hope that I will be able to create needs-based environments, and to breathe life into the place to improve meeting points. It’s important for me to work in harmony with users, to tackle any issues raised. First assignment: help with ongoing refurbishments by creating more open spaces while incorporating meeting rooms.
